    well well well...so i'm updating

I just wanted to start out by stating the obvious that God is good!  I finally had the opportunity to make it to a service at my home corps today.  It always amazes me how at home I feel even after being away for so long.  There is nowhere else I can go where there is a greater concentration of people who care about me and have known me for so long.  That is one of the blessings of living in one place your whole life.  It was so good to see everyone and hug everyone.  The kids did a musical today, and it was so adorable.  Although it was adorable it was not devoid of deep spiritual truths.   My favorite line from the musical said something like even though the world seems like its gone crazy God is still on his throne.  And I think that is something that we so often forget.  There are some crazy and terrible things happening in our world, that is for sure, but what is more important is that we remember who is in charge and who is greater than ALL evil.  God is in control.  It is so easy to dwell on the negative things about our culture and it is always harder to find the good in things, but I challenge everyone to look for the wonderful things around us and to thank God for those moments.  Dwelling on the positive, remembering our blessings and remembering that God is in control will really change your attitude and help develop a deeper relationship not only with God but with others.

    back from the dead

well a lot has changed on the face of my xanga since i last updated.  and a lot has changed on my face too......no jk.....i still have 2 eyes, a nose, a mouth, and 2 ears...no worries.

so i am now finishing my fourth week at asbury this semester.  so far im loving it even more than i did before.  During my incredible and indescribable summer (malaysia) i felt God calling me to use my art talent to glorify Him.  It was when our team went to an all muslim school and worked with the special needs children that I first realized this calling on my life.  There was one boy, in particular,  who was coloring and was actually doing pretty decently.  colring in the simple colors of the rainbow seemed to bring him so much joy.  and i sat there thinking how awesome it would be to teach art to special needs children or even children in general.  i mean God didnt bring me to malaysia and specifically to that school and class for nothing.  so i have, since returning to asbury, changed my major from journalism to art and plan on getting my masters in art history or something.  i, eventually, will teach art either in elementary school or teach art history in college.  i would also love to work in a museum or become an art critic.  basically ANYTHING relating to art i would love.  but this summer i felt specifically called to teach.

since i changed my major i am taking some art classes.  i am in sculpture and photography, which are going pretty well and i am enjoying both of them.  my sculpture prof is INCREDIBLE.....he walked up to me the other day and gave me a big hug saying that he saw me walking into my dorm the other day and thought to himself that he was so glad i was here........that mind sound weird to some of you but, in actuality, it is an awesome example of how caring and Christ-like the asbury profs are.

i also have the incredible opportunity to take a bible class with one of the greatest and most Godly men alive....Dr. Hamilton.  He is so inspiring and he has made me want to minor in Bible/Theology.  i love the opportunity at asbury to learn from such spiritual giants and be surrounded by such examples of Christ.

Anyway this is a more serious post from me but at least it is a post right?  i had to catch everyone up.  the fun is to come....i promise.  i will not sink into the black abyss of non-xanga-writers.  (the black abyss line is dedicated to andie) hehe.  until later -Vic-

About Me

  • The most important thing to know about me is that...well...it isn't all about me. It's all about the Lord, the one who has made me something out of nothing. My purpose in life is to glorify Him and I can hardly wait to experience the wonderful blessings of doing so. On a less serious note I am a procrastinator to the core and I LOVE stress...for real I do...it keeps me going late at night. I love to sing, dance, and above all I love ALL kinds of music and movies. I'm a magazine junkie, I'm obsessed with shoes and I love Diet Sprite! Woohoo!
